Open-System Lieb–Schultz–Mattis Theorem Highlighted by Condensed Matter Journal Club

Recently, Prof. Daniel Arovas of the University of California, San Diego wrote an article for Condensed Matter Journal Club introducing two works that extend the Lieb–Schultz–Mattis theorem to open systems. One of these works was carried out by Yineng Zhou, Xingyu Li, Hui Zhai, Chengshu Li, and Yingfei Gu, while the other was completed by the group of Prof. Shinsei Ryu at Princeton University. Approaching the problem from different perspectives, the two studies generalize the Lieb–Schultz–Mattis theorem to open quantum systems.
