Theoretical Proposal for Lattice-Gauge Quantum Simulation Realized by a USTC Experimental Group

In 2022, Yanting Cheng, Shang Liu, Wei Zheng, Pengfei Zhang, and Hui Zhai published a paper in PRX Quantum, proposing a scheme to control and observe the confinement–deconfinement phase transition in lattice-gauge quantum simulation systems based on cold-atom platforms. Recently, Yanting Cheng collaborated with the groups of Prof. Zhensheng Yuan and Prof. Jianwei Pan at the University of Science and Technology of China to implement this proposal experimentally. Using the scheme proposed in the original paper, they observed a tunable confinement–deconfinement phase transition in a lattice-gauge quantum simulation system. The related work was recently published in Nature Physics.
