Research on Three-Dimensional Moiré Lattices Featured in Physics
In cold-atom systems, internal spin states can be treated as synthetic dimensions, making it possible to realize twisted optical lattices and thereby explore the physics of moiré lattices. Taking advantage of this unique feature of cold-atom platforms, Ce Wang, Chao Gao, Zheyu Shi, Hui Zhai, and Jing Zhang collaborated to propose, for the first time, the concept of three-dimensional twisted lattices and investigated the rich symmetry properties of three-dimensional moiré lattices. This work was published in Physical Review Letters and was also featured in Physics. Professor Fangwei Ye from Shanghai Jiao Tong University was invited to write a commentary for Physics, in which he noted that this new concept could be extended to optical and acoustic systems, opening up new possibilities.
